Scotland Beach Volleyball squad qualifies for Commonwealth Games with help from SPACENews
SPACE supported athletes Seain Cook and Robin Miedzybrodzki have qualified for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018. They qualified two weeks ago by beating Cyprus in a winner takes all final of the CEV qualification tournament. The qualification routes to the Gold Coast or any Commonwealth Games are never easy, given the level of competition on the World and European Tour events (in amongst 9-5 day jobs, overseas working and young families)
The partnership between SPACE and the boys was formed to help porbide them with as much support as possible to make their dream possible. SPACE physio Kenny Watt worked closely in screening them prior to the start of their season and then monitoring a number of their physical and psychological markers throughout competition. It has been a pleasure for all of us at SPACE to see their progress and it will be Kenny who will look after the boys when out in Gold Coast at the Commonwealth Games.
Post qualification Robin was kind of enough to send on some thoughts on the working relationship which has brought such success…
It’s been great working with SPACE and Kenny over the last two years during the commonwealth qualification period. His knowledge and expertise are exceptional, which has helped us address injuries and enhance our performance, allowing us to peak for key events and perform against the best in the world. Kenny’s passion and knowledge of beach volleyball ensures our treatment is tailored to the needs of us as individuals within the scope of the sport. We really look forward to working with him as we build towards the Gold Coast 2018
