SPACE Physios continue to add skills and knowledgeNews
The last week has seen a huge amount of learning and up-skilling going on at SPACE.
Clinical Director and Physiotherapist Stephen Mutch spent a full 5 days at Barcelona FC at their Sports Science Week. This event included a Sports Medicine day focusing around tendons, a Sport Physiotherapy day focused around football, a sports nutrition day and an International Forum of Elite Sports. All 5 days proved to have a huge amount of cutting edge information around the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and the feedback has been fantastic. The sharing of information across our staff allows us all to benefit and this new knowledge base is then imparted onto our patients. We continue to strive to be at the leading edge and so unique within Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine in Scotland.
Last weekend also saw our Clinical Manager and Physiotherapist Kenny Watt attend the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports and Exercise Medicine course looking at the Clinical Reasoning in Exercise and Performance Rehabilitation. This course covers all aspects of rehabilitation including the prescription of exercise for all stages of rehabilitation as well as the designing of strength programmes for use by all members of the population. These skills are applied every day within the clinic where the exercises prescribed are very much for the individual and linked to their unique goals and sport. No two people are the same so no exercise programme should be either.
